Mobile No-Start & Roadside Diagnosis in San Diego
If your car will not start, the answer is almost never 'tow it to a shop and find out tomorrow.' San Diego Pro Mobile comes to you, diagnoses the actual cause on the spot — battery, starter, alternator, fuel system, ignition, sensor — and fixes most issues right there. Adam Moody, Scarlett Warren, Nadine L., and a long list of San Diego drivers have called us first because it is faster, cheaper, and you do not have to deal with a tow truck.

Back on the road
Most no-start calls end with you driving away — not waiting for a tow.
What You Need to Know
A no-start situation is panic mode for most people — you are late for work, the kids are in the back, you have groceries in the trunk. Calling a tow truck and shop means a $150 tow, a day or two without a car, and a shop guessing what is wrong. A mobile diagnostic visit usually finds the actual problem in 20 minutes and fixes it in another 30 to 60.
What No-Start Actually Means
There are three categories and they each point to different causes. No crank, no click, dashboard dead — dead battery or completely failed ignition switch/connection. No crank, single loud click — starter solenoid or starter motor. Cranks normally but will not fire — fuel, spark, sensor, or anti-theft. Telling us which one when you call lets us bring the right test gear and parts. If lights come on but the car will not crank, it is almost always battery, starter, or ground.
How We Diagnose On-Site
Step one is always a battery load test and a check for voltage at the starter when you turn the key. If those are good, we move to fuel pressure (gauge on the rail), spark (inline tester on a coil wire), and scan tool data for crank/cam sensor signals. Most no-starts get diagnosed in under 30 minutes. Common causes we see weekly: dead battery, failed starter, bad crank position sensor, failed fuel pump, blown main relay (Hondas), and immobilizer/key fob issues.
Price and What Gets Fixed Same Visit
Diagnostic fee is a flat rate that applies toward the repair. Same-visit fixes we do all the time: dead battery replacement ($180-$280), failed starter or alternator ($350-$750), fuel pump on accessible vehicles ($400-$900), blown fuses or relays (cheap). If your car needs internal engine work or a transmission, we will be straight with you and recommend a tow. No charge for an honest answer.

No-Start / Roadside Diagnosis Questions, Answered
Most common questions we get about no-start / roadside diagnosis in San Diego.
My car cranks but will not start — what is it?
Usually fuel, spark, or sensor-related. We diagnose with scan tool and pressure gauges to find the actual cause.
My car will not crank at all — battery or starter?
If lights are dim or dead, it is the battery. If lights are normal but you hear a single click, it is usually the starter. We test to confirm.
How fast can you get to me?
Same-day in most of San Diego. Often within a couple of hours. Call (619) 853-3823 and we will give you a real ETA.
Do you come to freeway shoulders?
We can if it is safe. For active freeway-shoulder situations we usually recommend a tow to a safe location first, then we meet you there.
Is calling a mobile mechanic faster than calling AAA?
Usually yes. AAA can tow you to a shop, but the shop then has to diagnose you in line behind their other work. We come, diagnose, and usually fix in the same visit — total time often less than just the AAA tow.
What if you cannot fix it on the spot?
We give you an honest diagnosis, a written estimate of what the repair would cost, and a recommendation for a trustworthy tow and shop. The diagnostic visit pays for itself because you walk into the shop knowing exactly what is wrong instead of paying them to diagnose it again.
